How check-in works, the house rules, the pool, paying and canceling, and the questions guests ask most.

Check-in, the house rules, the pool, paying and canceling, in the manager's own policy wording, so every home they manage says the same thing. The questions open in place. "Ask before you book" goes to the manager, never to us.

Getting in

Check-in is on your own, with a keyless lock. Your door code is texted to you the day before arrival and works from check-in to check-out. There’s no office to stop at first.

The drive holds three cars. Boats and trailers can’t be parked at the house.

House rules

  • Up to 10 guests, the ones on the booking
  • No parties or events
  • Quiet hours from 10 PM to 8 AM; the neighbors live here year round
  • No smoking indoors or on the porch
  • No pets at this home
  • Children and babies are welcome

The pool

The pool is heated from November to March on request, for $45 a night, added on the booking page. No glass on the pool deck, and no one swims alone: there’s no lifeguard, and the gate on the fence is there for the little ones.

Paying and canceling

Half the stay is paid when you book and the balance 30 days before arrival. A stay booked inside 30 days is paid in full.

Cancel 30 or more days before arrival and everything but a $75 booking fee comes back. Inside 30 days there are no refunds, which is why Salt Run Home Co. recommends travel insurance.

Hurricanes

The one exception to the cancellation rule is an official evacuation order for St. Johns County, which brings a full refund of the nights affected. A hurricane watch or warning on its own doesn’t count.

Trash and check-out

Trash and recycling are taken to the curb for you on pickup nights; the cans live by the side gate and you never touch them. At check-out, start the dishwasher, leave the beds as they are, and lock the door behind you. That’s it.

Travel insurance

Because stays inside 30 days can’t be refunded, Salt Run Home Co. recommends travel insurance. Plans can cover a canceled or cut-short trip, weather including hurricanes, medical costs and delays.
